Things to do in February in Chicago

It's still pretty cold here in Chicago in February but that doesn't necessarily mean there is nothing to do. Here are some fun things to do in February in Chicago. The best part: most of these ideas are inside and on a budget!

Wolves Game

If you are looking to catch a sports game in Chicago but don't want to break the bank I recommend going to a Wolves game in Rosemont, IL. Tickets start at just $21 plus they have $3 beer nights on select Fridays. There is also a Groupon for tickets starting at $19.50 (which I will link HERE) so definitely something you can do on a budget! They have some theme nights too. Superhero night, Star Wars night, Adopt-a-dog events, and so much more!

Chicago Auto Show

So OBVIOUSLY the auto show is meant to showcase the new cars for the year and potential future advancements so if you're on a budget then chances are you aren't going to purchase a car BUT it can be a fun experience just to go and check out some cool cars and even test drive a few. The CAS is happening from February 10th-19th and tickets start at $17. This year they have several local breweries as sponsors so they are offering a Friday Night Flight tickets good for admission to the show floor as well as 10 pours from the brewery sponsors for just $45. I don't know about you but I love a good pint as I walk around a convention. It's better when you're dressed up in cosplay too, ahem C2E2, but I digress. The Friday Night Flight tickets are linked HERE and regular tickets HERE

Cider Week/Cider Summit - Navy Pier

In addition to Restaurant Week, Chicago is also having a Cider Week from January 28th until February 3rd. Different cider houses around the city host different events throughout the week, leading up to the Cider Summit at Navy Pier on February 3rd. The event is open from 2-6 pm and will feature 150 selections from over 30 Cider and Mead producers. New this year: They have a Cider and Charcuterie pre-event from 12-1 where cider monger, Alisha Norris Jones will guide you through 4 curated pairings featuring Northman ciders and regional cheese! If you're a millennial who grew up on Lunchables and sunny D chances you're like me and LOVE charcuterie so this would be perfect for you!

Theater Week

Chicago just loves giving us discounts! Theater Week in Chicago is a lot like Restaurant Week, with various shows and theaters offering discounted tickets. Theater Week in Chicago is Feb 8th - 18th, and You can get tickets starting at $15 so absolutely affordable and there are a ton of shows and theaters participating this year. I saw a few shows with tickets starting at just $5! Here are some of our favorites:

Teatro Zinzanni

Drunk Shakespeare

Blue Man Group

In The Heights

Zanies

The full of shows and where to buy tickets can be found at ChicagoTheatreWeek.com.

Skating in Millennium Park

I know what you're thinking "Isn't that so touristy?" and the answer is yes, yes it is BUT it's fairly inexpensive (free if you have your own skates!) and worth doing at least once. It's so beautiful skating with an amazing skyline around you. Admission to the ice rink is free, but online tickets are required. Ice skates can be rented for a fee: $13 Monday–Thursday, $15 Friday-Sunday and Holidays, and Skating is open until March 6th. In addition to that, behind Millennium Park is the Maggie Daley Skating Ribbon which is open until the 10th and also free if you don't need a skate rental.

Disney on ice

This is great if you have little ones! and as someone who loves Disney and ice skating, I enjoyed it as well! Disney on Ice is a magical show on ice with your favorite Disney characters. Some of the things they do on ice are insane! This year's show in Chicago, Magic in the Stars, features timeless characters like Cinderella, Snow White, and Jasmine, as well as some newer favorites like Mirabel, Raya, and Moana! Disney on Ice is in Chicago from January 18th until February 4th bouncing between United Center and Allstate Arena. Tickets start at just $20 and keep in mind all kids over 2 years old will need their own ticket.

Dancing with the Stars live

I went to a show similar to this a couple of years ago when Maks, Val, and Peeta were on tour and it was so fun! They did a couple of numbers individually and a few together and each one was cool and unique. For this tour, the performers include Brandon Armstrong, Rylee Arnold, Alan Bersten, Daniella Karagach, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, and Britt Stewart. The show is at the Allstate Arena on February 10th and tickets start at $75 so a little on the pricier side but a must-do for anyone who is a fan of the show or just dancing in general!
