Gift ideas for travelers

Updated: Dec 21, 2023

When the holidays come around I feel like travelers are the hardest to shop for because if you're like me, you never know what to put on your wishlist since all you want to do is travel! Then friends and family never know what to get you. SO whether you're buying for a traveler in your life or you are the traveler here are some gift ideas!

  • Airline miles - yep! You can gift miles directly from most major airlines. American, United, and Delta have the easiest gifting process. You can also transfer any miles you have too! If you wont use them before they expire, gift them to someone that will!

  • Clear or Pre Check - For anyone that doesn't travel very often, Clear and Precheck are programs by the Governement for travel. Basically you you confirm you are who you say you are a head of time and then you have an easier time at the airport. I have Global Entry Plus precheck so I went through an interview process and now I can go into a seperate (usually shorter) security line at the airport. With Global Entry it's the same when you come back into the country from International travel. Since you've already gone through the interview, the line at customs is alot shorter. You can either start the application for them if you know most of their information or gift the fee amount. Global entry + TSA Precheck was $100 for 5 years. Clear is $189 per year.

  • Hotel program gift cards - like IHG, Marriott, Hyatt Choice Privilege hotels. A lot of bigger hotels have their own programs you can purchase gift cards for, but sometimes smaller hotels are part of a larger family like IHG.

  • Groupon or other excursion sites - if you know where they're traveling to you can purchase excursions or tours for them (Groupon also offers gift certificates if you would rather they pick out the excursions themselves)

  • Dining gift cards/certificates - lettuce entertain you is great because they have locations all of the US. There's also Darden for chain restaurants like Olive Garden and Long Horn Steakhouse

  • Visa gift card - yea, I know. It's boring, but honestly, if you help pay for anything on their travels, it helps! Plus, they'll think of you when they're shopping in NYC, and they use the gc you gave them to buy those shoes they never would've splurged on.

Hopefully this helps when youre shopping for the traveler in your life!

Until next time!
